I definitely don’t want to be known as a blockbuster filmmaker, but in the wake of seeing Aronofsky say he wants Noah to be an event picture, it has made me realize that my passion project would be an event picture as well. It would require global filming, as I’d want to shoot as much in real… I just have to say one thing about your comment on the Red. You’re right, no one is gonna care about the Red in 10 years, because by then Scarlet will probably already be old news. But Honestly, the advances of digital film making have been so huge in the past few years… It seems like any time now, real film will go the way of vinyl- there will be the hardcore users, the ones who know the difference, can feel the difference- but everyone else will be happy with their digital counterfeits. And with budgets being cut on so many different areas that are important to film making- when it comes down to actuall getting a movie made, choosing between film and digital might become a deal breaker… You gotta wonder if it’ll be worth the risk to say “I want to make this on film.” That being said, we’re not there YET. I’m just saying… in the future, I can’t help but have a feeling that we’re gonna see even LESS of 65mm and even more digital.
